Proud/Glad To Be White?
Let’s see, there are African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Asian-Americans, Arab- Americans, Native-Americans, Japanese-Americans, Chinese-Americans, etc. Then there are just plain Americans.
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me "Cracker," "Honkey," "Whitey," or worse, and that's OK with you. However, if I call you Nigger, rag-head, wetback, camel jockey, beaner, gook, or chink, you call me a racist. We can’t even say the following without someone calling us racists – “there is a nip in the air, or, there is a chink in your armor.”
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, but why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live? One in four black men have done prison time and you call that discrimination or racial profiling, but I call it being caught for doing a crime. Moreover, as you people say, “If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.” O.J. walks and the black community is elated. The World Trade Centers are destroyed and the Arab world is elated. Suicide bombers attack Israel whenever the mood strikes them (quite often) and no one says much until Israel counters with a surgical strike.
You have the United Negro College Fund; you have Hispanic History Month; you have Martin Luther King Day; you have Asian History Month; you have Black History Month; you have Cesar Chavez Day; you have Ma'uled Al-Nabi; you have Kwanza (a recently invented holiday); you have the NAACP; you have the Ms. Black America contest, and you have BET. Several Miss Americas (a formerly white only group) has elected a number of Blacks as Miss America and that’s okay with you.
IF (and that’s a big IF) we had WET - (White Entertainment Television) we’d be racists. The networks would never air it anyway so you need not fear this ever happening.
We would be racists if we had a White Pride Day. If we had White History Month, we'd be racists. If we had any organization for only whites to "advance" OUR lives, we’d be racists. Some groups call us Anglos but most plain Americans are not really Anglos – our ancestry is too diverse to have originated with the Anglo Saxon tribe.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; a Black Chamber of Commerce, The Black Congressional Congress; and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that?
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists. There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black-only Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White-only Colleges" THAT would be a racist college.
In the Million-Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and red, and you're not afraid to announce it. However, if we announce our white pride or ancestry you would call us racists or Nazis or KKK-ers.
You rob us, carjack us, beat us and shoot us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer who is running (car chase) from the LAW and posing a threat to ALL of society, you call him a racist and if you can’t get them prosecuted or convicted, you riot, you loot, bomb and tear up a city and maim white people.
I am proud and glad to be white. However, you call me a racist. Why is it that only whites can be racists? From some of the recent empty rhetoric by the so-called self-proclaimed leaders of the Black Community, it sounds as if they are the rabid and hate filled racists.
I used to be a Human Resources Director and am familiar with all of the above claims of racism and most of it was bogus unless the investigator for the EEOC was a person of color, in which case our company was usually found to have committed an act of discrimination.
Let’s face the facts, we are all racists to one degree or another. Let's get over it and get on with living!
